I’m back!!! January 14, 2008

finally… after a hiatus of a month… I have phone and broadband services at home again.
it’s really unbelievable, the level of service that we get here in Malaysia. TM really needs a kick up the ass. When we applied to transfer the phone and broadband services they told us it would be done in 3 days. Yes, you read that right, THREE.
after 3 days, nothing happens. went back to the old apartment after almost a week, the phone line is still active there. So we call them up and ask them what’s going on. Apparently they transfered the phone line from the old apartment, BACK to the old apartment. Had to tell them to use their brains and think at least for once.
after a couple of weeks, still nothing happens. phone line still active at old apartment. my wife has been calling to scold them every couple of days. They said they don’t have the new address. Had to tell them “we filled in the form, and it was keyed into the system. What do you mean, you don’t have the new address”. They told us the transfer was still “peringkat awal” (early stages)
almost a month, actually went to the TM Point in Uptown, Damansara Utama. Waited for our turn at customer service. Poor hapless girl at the counter never knew what was in store for her. She checked the system and said, again “peringkat awal“. I mean, come on, you told us it would take 3 days, now it’s almost a month and it’s still in the early stages???!!!
finally gave up and decided to cancel Streamyx (broadband) services once and for all, because of all the stupid crap we were having to put up with from TM, and probably migrate to Maxis Wireless Broadband. Went to the TM Point in Kelana Jaya this time. Filled in the termination form and handed it to the counter, and the girl there asked us why we were terminating. Told her the whole story including getting angry about not having broadband cause we needed to get work done and not being able to work because we didn’t have broadband or even a phone connection. She went into the office for a while, and managed to get some stuff processed on the spot.
Which gets me thinking… why couldn’t they have done that during all those times we called customer service or went to TM Point?!
She said that our phone line would be up within the week, and she even gave her name and contact, saying that if it wasn’t up by the end of the week to contact her and let her know.
Surprise, by the end of the week, still no phone line.
My wife called up TM again to scold them. This time the person on the other end asked “did you ever try to lodge a complaint about this” my wife very coldly told him “just check your system, it should be there”. True enough, over 16 calls of complaint from us.
Finally, someone from the KL office must have gotten wind of it and started kicking some asses, we got our phone service, and a few days after that, our Streamyx broadband as well.
Quite honestly, TM needs to really do something about its service.
- they are a privatized company already, no longer a government department. With this level of service, any proper company would have gone under and folder a long time ago
- the only reason why we had to go with TM was because they’re the only phone provider around our area. If we had choices, we’d have gone to someone else a long time ago.
Anyway which way, we finally have our broadband again. Many thanks to Shamla from TM Point Kelana Jaya who helped us to get things moving (and probably kicked some asses in the office as well on our behalf)
schlip schlap~
