CSI talk: Sara Sidle leaving November 6, 2007

so it’s been confirmed that Jorja Fox is leaving the CSI: Las Vegas show (she plays Sara Sidle) for real this time. While it’s sad to see characters, especially main characters go, hopefully this time it will be a peaceful exit rather than the way Tim Speedle left Miami (shot in a shootout when his gun jammed), or Aiden Burns left NY (fired, then killed by a murderer and burned up in a burning car). Most comments seem to hint at possible returns to the show for cameos and stuff, so it’s probable that her character will survive.
what I don’t get is some of the reactions that I’ve seen from fans of the show. Many are saying “oh, Sara is gone, I’m not gonna watch the show anymore”. Like, CSI is not a personality show, especially not the Las Vegas one (although, CSI:Miami is really practically the Horatio Caine show) so when one person leaves, you just really have to replace that person with someone new for the team. It’s that simple. It works in real life, in our jobs, I don’t see how this should really end the show or something. Also, Jorja Fox herself came out and said that she wanted to pursue her own projects and there was no contract issue involved, so really, folks, CSI:LV will still be a great show, it will survive, it will evolve and adapt and who knows? It may get even better when she’s gone.
That having been said, I never was a great fan of Sara Sidle anyway… too much angst. I deal with enough of that in my workplace.
i would have liked sara sidle if she woulda owned up and started macking with the showgirls. fox played sidle as the classic bi-curious loner. but you’re right, csi will do just fine without her. if anything, the sara-gil storyline is just B.O.R.I.N.G.
as a csi fan?its really sad to hear this news.i think this is one move for csi as a change.depicting real life.something saying that shit happens in real daily life for example “speed” @ csi miami and “aiden” for ny.they left the show.in real life it happens to anyone.the whole concept of this csi thing is to make it more relistic and more people related show.the show(s) are telling us that this characters are same as us.no job security,you think you’re doing good today next thing you know your gun jams and bang your out.or lets say you’re sitting in your office doing your paper work making a living next time you know you screw up and bam!your out.you getting me?its the whole concept of csi is shit happens to anyone.PEACE!
