the year is almost over… December 18, 2006

I know I haven’t updated this place for quite a long time, but I’ve been busy.

I’ll be on leave from work from the 19th (Tuesday) all the way till January 3rd (Wednesday) when the new semester starts!  It’s good to be able to get a break from work and recuperate from a hectic year with all its ups and downs. (for some reason, as I grow older, the ups and downs of life seem to get more and more severe. Maybe just the downs)

Needless to say, this year has had its share of downs. I’m going through one right now, feeling betrayed and very angry and disappointed in a few people, people who I thought would always stand by me, and wouldn’t forsake me.

It’s tempting to oblige them and just not serve God in the church, or even at all. I mean, why should I be serving in this church for 6 years non-stop, week in, week out, in 3 different ministries, when most others are just sitting around warming the seats and consuming the air and free food, only for some of them to complain that I’m slacking off and not doing my duties? It boggles the mind to comprehend how they can think things like that.

But anyway, I guess if I’m not so involved in my own church, it frees me up to be able to get back into the performing arts world, which I kinda miss, especially after last night’s performance of SIB’s musical, Drunk Before Dawn. It was a good production, quite as good as an amateur production can be, and I was quite impressed. I worked in the professional performing arts world before (albeit in Canada, not here in Malaysia) and like I said, I kinda miss it. I just don’t know if I can’t do the whole song and dance thing anymore, though. Maybe I’ll stick to being crew or production again first.

I digress. I’ll be on holiday soon, for the rest of the year, so updates may be sketchy (or they may be even more frequent, depending on my mood, I guess). So, have yourselves a merry Christmas, and a happy New Year, just in case I don’t see y’all before then!

MALAYSIANS… LEARN TO USE YOUR INDICATOR SIGNALS WHEN DRIVING!!!

this especially applies to idiot drivers of large Mercedes Benz cars like the S320 who think they own the entire road.

where: somewhere just off Old Klang Road, near the BHP gas station just after the Federal Highway

I would never have found this place if my colleague didn’t tell us about it. So we went there for lunch today since it’s the last day of classes for the year, so a small celebration was in order.

The place is a nice comfy corner shop lot, with seating both downstair and upstairs.  We were seated upstairs in a private room, which was a nice touch.

The menu was average, with most of the standard Japanese foods on offer. The pricing was reasonable for what it was, especially the oyako don (rice bowl with chicken and egg and vegetables) going for only rm8 complete with a bowl of miso soup. Not bad indeed. The oyako don came as a nice large steaming bowl of goodness.

The star of the show, however, was the Nihon Kai maki, which was a huge roll that came in 8 slices for the price of rm25. Inside was basically everything, from egg to salmon to tuna to squid to crabstick and even more stuff. Definitely not something that could be eaten in one bite

All in, not the best Japanese food that any of us have ever had, but for the price, it was definitely worth trying.

rating: 6.4/10 with decent food and generous portions, and good service. Price was rm92 for 5 people to stuff themselves, quite reasonably priced.
